Art of the Trail online gallery is a creation of Chris and Sanne Bagby, a long distance hiking couple from Atlanta, GA, whose recent treks have taken them on foot from Mexico through the Rockies to Canada along the Continental Divide Trail, from Mexico to Canada along the Pacific Crest Trail and from Georgia to Maine along the Appalachian Trail. Among their hiking friends, Chris and Sanne are better known by their trail names, "Spur" and "Ready." Describing their experience of the backcountry, Chris says:

"Being out in the woods continuously during a 6-month thruhike gives us new eyes with which to see. The natural beauty which we stumble upon is a treasure to be savored. The purpose of our trail photography is to try to bring snatches of that beauty back to the everyday world, and share it with kindred spirits, wherever you are."

Their award-winning photographs have attracted attention around the country, and have been featured extensively in the PCTA publication, Pacific Crest Trail Communicator.
